What does a treament involve?

What does a treament involve?

On the first Craniosacral treatment I will take a full case history, giving the patient time to talk about any areas of ill health, injuries, or traumas - current and historic. Or just listen to whatever they want to bring to the field which is significant to them.

The patient will then lie down on the treatment couch. Treatments are always carried out with the patient fully clothed so they may want to wear something comfortable. I will then take up contacts at various areas on the body depending on where I’m drawn to or according to problematic areas highlighted in the case history; these can be at the cranium (head), along the entire spine to the sacrum (tail-bone), chakra contacts at the heart centre and solar plexus, the throat centre, the face and jaw, and at the feet and legs.

Here I notice areas of restrictions or asymmetries within the system which could be contributing to ill health, and then allow the system space to release and realign so that the healing can take affect.

What to expect from your treatment?

What to expect from your treatment?

I allocate an hour to treatments which includes time for the patient to talk at the start about how they’re feeling, and also time at the end for them to discuss what they experienced during the treatment. Talking is an important part of the release process for some people but for others they may not feel the need to talk at all. It’s all down the individual and there’s absolutely no right or wrong way.

What to expect afterwards?

It all depends on the individual. Most feel deeply relaxed or some may feel energised. When a release or shift has occurred it may come with some emotion, and whatever form this may be in, this is completely fine and all part of the healing process. Sometimes people report relief of symptoms after only one or two sessions. For long-standing problems further sessions may be needed. Some people find they benefit from regular treatments over an extended period of time and say that, as well as noticing improvement in their physical or emotional symptoms, they feel that they have more awareness of their own needs and strengths, and their quality of life has improved.
